Surely you have listened about the expression, “BI” or “Business Intelligence”, the question is, do you understand the concept?

To clear up all doubts, let’s understand what’s “BI”, how important it is, and how Scriptcase applies this concept to its functionality.

What is Business Intelligence?

Business Intelligence (BI)  is generally a collection of various methodologies, theories, technologies, or even processes that work with data to extract information that is useful for management.

The main idea is to provide the ability to interpret and analyze datas that, individually, would not have a great informative character, but once applied the BI, become essential information for decision making.

Okay, but what are the real benefits of this?

We are at a time when, having information is essential to the survival of any business, and being able to interpret that information in order to work on management strategies makes a huge difference in getting results.

The strategic planning to build real competitive advantages means working towards adding value to your company, and consequently, the solutions offered to your customers.

Speed, increased efficiency, process optimization are some of the many advantages of using BI.

The ability to have full reports available to view at any time on your computer or mobile phone, makes decisions more assertive and less risky.

With BI you can calculate expenses, view profits, understand the reasons for variations, know the profile of customers, follow the flow of processes within the company, among many other possibilities depending on the tool used.

And how do I apply this in my company?

Now that we understand what BI is and some of its many advantages, let’s try to bring this concept closer to the reality of the company.

Fundamentally to apply BI in your company you need to be aware of some important matters:

1 – Data trusted

For management strategies to be truly successful, it is critical that the sources from which the information is derived be reliable.

2 – Good visualization and interpretation of data

Managers need to have a clear view of the data so they can better interpret the available information. So, the way this information is arranged is an important feature in choosing a tool.

3 – Adaptability to goals

Once information is interpreted and organized at hand, it is easier appropriate to adapt management strategies to the company’s important goals, no matter what changes they require.

Where does Scriptcase fall into this business intelligence context?

Currently, there are several Business Intelligence (BI) tools that allow you to develop everything that is required by a company, such as: KPI, Dashboards and Report; which are usually the common requirements requested by managers.

Scriptcase allows you to efficiently and quickly apply all elements to the information analysis process, supporting the most important databases such as MSSQL Server, Oracle, MySQL, ODBC, etc.

Now talking about the BI applications Scriptcase generates, I list:

  • Dashboard: Space where general information for decision making is available, will house specific elements: KPI, charts, pivot table in general.
  • Graphics: Bars, lines, pizza, zone, stacked or combined. There are several variations so that we can better implement information presentation.
  • Pivot Table: With them, we can summarize large volumes of information that normally cannot be presented in graphs or KPI.
  • KPI (Key Performance Indicator): Key indicators that show a value calculated through aggregate functions or any other type.

On top of all that, something that we can conclude is that Scriptcase is a powerful tool not only for web development but also for business analytics (BI) and of course we can combine the two features to get robust systems that meet the needs of the business first World.
