Check here 8 tips for working from home.

Hello, how are you? We hope you are well!

We know that the moment is difficult and many people are having to adapt to their new work routines including us at Scriptcase where we are having to work remotely until everything is organized in the face of the COVID-19 pandemic.

With all that in mind, we want to give you some tips to help you with the work from the home situation while maintaining productivity levels.

1 – Setup a workspace in your home

I believe that this is the essential first step towards establishing a work at home routine, and it does not matter what the nature of your work is. What you will need is a full focus on the activity you are performing, however maintaining that focus can become a very difficult task being out of the work environment, especially if you live with your family.

Therefore, it is essential that you have your own space, where you can, even partially, separate yourself from the rest of your home routine. And this space does not necessarily have to be a complete office, a place where you have tranquility, comfort and the possibility of concentration is enough.

2 – Watch out for potential distractions!

Being at home many things become potential distractions, a strong example of this are social networks, we are increasingly connected to them consuming the most diverse types of content. And have you noticed how fast time passes while you are browsing them?! Yeah, we have to be aware of that. Avoid spending too much time on social media.

Of course, social networks have become fundamental extensions of routine whether they work or not, they are important spaces for communication, information, and inspiration. So the tip is, use it sparingly!

3 – Being online does not mean being available all the time.

What am I trying to say with that? The fact that you are working from home offers you the possibility of being able to be available for everything and everyone that is being close to family, friends, the things you like to do at home, and this is all great! However, it does not mean that you are ‘available’ all the time.

You need to take your work schedule seriously, so you also need to make others respect and understand that you have a routine of responsibilities to fulfill, and time to execute.

This type of remote work is still a novelty for many people, so it can be difficult for some to understand that there is a rigor to be followed as if you were working physically in your work environment. So stay focused.

4 – Respect your schedules

Of course, working from home involuntarily offers you certain flexibility in working hours, you don’t have to wake up so early, and you can also stay up a little later after all you’re already at home.

In addition, this flexibility can end up quite messing up the work routine you built already, several breaks and a medium / low productivity index. Of course, you can adapt your schedules a little to the new reality but keep an organized routine pattern.

Just as you must respect the start time, you must also respect the end time! Often working from home we end up exceeding the limits a little, and this is also not healthy, so keep a balance between the beginning and the end of your shift.

5 – Take care of your mind and don’t isolate yourself too much.

Perhaps for many people, the main difficulty in working remotely is exactly the lack of socialization with other people. It can become very uncomfortable to work without all that interaction and for these people, remote work turns out to be quite a challenge. For others, loneliness turns out to be convenient.

Regardless of your personality, the important thing is that you always seek to take care of your mental and emotional health.

Try to make your routine more dynamic, get some exercise, try to keep in touch with your work friends, eat well, respect your sleep and rest hours.

6 – Keep the communication ON

An essential point to keep the activities running is to always keep communication with your work team active

Use tools that facilitate and organize this communication, chats like Slack or even the one provided by Google, video calls, daily meetings, all this keeps professionalism active and makes it easier to direct activities, coordinate teams, solve problems and streamline the delivery of results even though they are far from each other.

7 – Make a list of activities.

The secret is to be focused and disciplined this way you will be able to maintain the same results working from home. Organize your activities, build a list of tasks that you must complete throughout the day, and respect these obligations.

To stay productive try to separate the activities in a coherent way establishing delivery goals and doing everything to fulfill them. Add tools to help you organize your days better, Google Calendar is an interesting option for you to plan your activities. Another good option would also be Trello, where you can build a dashboard with your activities while sharing with others.

Keep in mind that these are just suggestions to help you out.

8 – Use the right tools!

There is no point in modifying the entire work logistics if you do not have tools capable of keeping the results cycle up to date.

This tip goes to you who are a developer you need to have a whole environment available to be able to maintain your systems while continuing the development process, one of the best solutions would be Scriptcase.

The Scriptcase offers a whole development environment capable of transforming your database into BI forms, queries, graphs and reports, helping you to save time and reduce costs.

The solution is also a web system and runs within a browser which allows collaborative development as more than one person working at the same time with the same development environment through local networks or in the cloud!

That’s is a tip. 😉

Despite the requirement of certain adaptation, working from home can bring many advantages in terms of quality of life.

Therefore, all results will depend on how much you managed to organize your routine and this moment may become a great opportunity to further evolve your discipline, concentration, organization, focus and even your creativity.
